FUNCTION
The products used for applying coatings are very specific in their functions. There are two major types: preparation and finishing products. As their name suggests, preparation products are used to prepare surfaces before applying finishing products. They include cleaners, strippers, restorers, preservatives, repair products, sealants and base coats. Surface preparation is of prime importance. Most seemingly paint-related problems are actually caused by poor surface preparation. Finishing products give a surface its final look. They include stains, protectors, paints, varnishes and glazes.
